2008 VSGCC Qualifier One - Gallery Three
Ian Crotty, Captain of the Captain Melvilles, always seems to find some water at The Frog, and this day was no exception. Here he is preparing to get wet off to the right of the par 4 thirteenth hole.
He lines up standing ankle deep in water - keep in mind it was bloody cold!
And Pooom! He gets it out. Alas, this went left to the edge of another water hazard. He finished up scratching the hole and his score was the worst of his team, so didn't count. In hindsight, he would have been better off keepping his shoes on.
Shane, Rohan and Michael in attendance as Roger Brown powers up for his blow off the tee on the par 4 fourteenth.
Dave Regenspurger and Matt Thomas (BRG Two) with Ross Michell and Travis Madden (bwired) preparing to take on the longest drive on the par 5 fifteenth hole.
Dave R makes his swing and it is a lusty blow - alas it was Travis Madden who peeled off a total monster that clung to the right edge of the fairway and won him the bikkies.
View from the hill near the fifteenth green down to the tee of the long par 3 sixteenth hole.
The excitement heats up in the clubhouse as the scores start coming in.
Here we have the Epping RSL crew (Bob Laing, Gary Tinsley, Chris Toshack and Tony Collis) celebrating their fifth place finish and planning their strategy for the VSGCC final in November.
Above is the haughty crew from the Reserve Bank Social Golf Club (John Mazey, Wayne Mitchelmore, Dale Ruddock and Michael Vasnaver). They finished fourth and rumour has it they will not be the last gang from their club to target the innaugural VSGCC.
With a stunning 44 points, which included holing out from 159 metres on the par 5 twelfth for an eagle, Michael David of the Captain Melvilles keeps everything in check as he collects his prizes for shooting the best round of the day.
David Puddefoot, John Mooreand David McAdam of BRG 3 celebrate their second place finish with 104 points. Sebastian Shand was a solid citributor with 32 points, but could not hang around for the photo opp. John shot the equal 2nd best individual round of the day racking up 40 points.
The Captain Melvilles (Michael David, Warwick Stonehouse, Ian Crotty and Roger Brown) celebrate their win.
