BRG Handicap Day - February 9 2008 - Gallery & Results
The first Bushranger Golf Handicap Day for 2008 was held on the Gunnamatta Course at The Golf Club St Andrews Beach in slightly testing conditions, with a couple of squalls threatening to dampen proceedings. In a thrilling contest, The Boominator prevailed with a virile 40 stableford points on a day when many well-credentialled Bushrangers struggled with the course and the conditions and posted some very low totals. He was able to hold off the fast finishing Big C and Sammy who stormed home together in the final group to jump on the podium in 2nd and 3rd place on 39 & 38 points. The final results are below and the standings for the new player of the year award are on the BRG POY page.

The next BRG event will be the 2nd Handicap Day for the year at the Heathcote Golf Club in central Victoria on Saturday March 8. For more info, watch out for news items and keep an eye on the schedule on the Handicap Day page. Below is a small gallery of images with some of the special highlights of the day at The Gunnamatta Course at St. Andrews Beach - rated by Golf Australia Magazine as the 9th-best track in Australia.
The field sets off up the first fairway.
Willo plays a delightful pitch to the par-four 3rd green that is protected by the big dune at the front left.
Roger waits for the green to clear on the third before playing a remarkable shot from the Magoombah that made it to the putting surface.
Willo pounds a big ball off the par-four 5th tee.
Bushrangers scattered across the dune to the right of the par-three 6th hole.
Arbeige doing a lot right at impact in the tee box on the par four 15th.
Pw Jones, also on the 15th, after a slightly less impressive effort off the tee, prepares to make the best of a bad situation with the ball slightly above his feet in the magoom.
A typical vista from a high location across the dunes on the back nine of the Gunnamatta Course at St. Andrews Beach.
Bushrangers making a rather excited departure from the par-three 16th tee as the sun comes out.
Arbeige finishing in style on the 18th with an impressive long bunker shot onto the green.
Sammy with his Bushranger Shiraz for making the podium with a solid 38 points - one of the few to break their handicap.
The winner, Mr. Boo, getting the party started after another impressive round in a career littered with glittering highlights.
The field (minus Q) relaxing after the round. L to R: Sammy, Roger, Erik, Willo, Dave, Tolly, Boo, Zark, Seve, Crocko, Big C, Dave, Ben, Pw Jones, Rich, Pablo, Deano, Andy-o & Funky-o.
