The 2008 William Buckley Classic Results

The third William Buckley Classic was held over the weekend of Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of October 2008. The accommodation was at the wonderful Sunset Views Lodge on course at Cape Schanck and the format was 2-ball ambrose stableford over 36 challenging holes at Cape Schanck & the Moonah Links Legends Course.

When: Saturday & Sunday October 25 & 26
Where we stay: Sunset Views lodge on course at Cape Schanck
Where we play: Moonah Links (Legends) & Cape Schanck
Who: You and your mates playing in two-ball ambrose teams

The tournament was contested in good spirit and the competition was tight all the way with only ten shots separating the top eight teams and 14 shots between first and last place. After 36 holes of 2-ball ambrose stableford golf, it all came down to the last hole on Sunday, with the three leading groups finishing within three shots of each other.

The defending champions, Arbeige & Mikey Dee, had a nasty little five-foot downhill putt on the 18th to clinch the title and Arbeige played first and made no mistake. The final placings were:

Above we see the 2008 William Buckley Classic champions, Arbeige & Mikey Dee, posing down with The Murrangurk Perpetual Trophy at the presentation ceremony. They were still recovering from the rapture of being the first ever Bushrangers to successfully defending a major title and secure back-to-back championships.
