The 2011 Kelly Gang Shootout Results

The 6th Kelly Gang Shootout was held at Tocumwal Golf Club over the weekend of July 23 & 24, 2011 and was a helmet-full of fun for all involved. Six unscrupulous teams lined up for a 4-player per team shootout with 2-ball ambrose on the Saturday and 4-ball ambrose on the Sunday making it a 54-hole event. The teams were:

The Glenrowan Hacks: Neil Hocking, Gavan Doran, Ian Crotty & Pete Russell
The Benalla Burglars: David Regenspurger, Wade Jones, Matt Thomas & Dave Amos
The Frosty Beveridges: Cindy Wisseling, Darren Jones, Rob Lugton & Philip Smith
The Stringybark Creek Freaks: Matthew Pitt, Richard Fellner, Mark Henderson & Chris Hall
The Beechworth Boys: Paul Gray, Wayne Ball, Leo Ryan & Brendan Vanderwerf
The Jerilderie Gents: Brian Davis, Terry Canfield, Geoff Cutting & Shane Morris

When: Saturday & Sunday July 23 & 24
Where: The Tocumwal Golf Club
What: A 36-hole siege for teams of four playing two & four-ball ambrose
Why: For loads of fun, camaraderie, adventure, glory, trophies & prizes
Entry: $320 for BRG members ($340 for non-members).
Bookings: Anyone can enter and payment is required one month prior
Extras: A warm up event from noon at Toke on Friday

After a thrilling weekend of golf and jocularity, a great time was had by all and The Benalla Burglars stole the championship with a dazzling display of ball-striking on day two to come from behind over the closing holes on Sunday afternoon to sweep through the field. Below we see the 2011 champs (Dave Regenspurger, Wade Jones, Matt Thomas & Dave Amos) posing with The Glenrowan Perpetual Trophy.
