The 2014 Bushranger Cup Results
The 11th Bushranger Cup returned to the Mornington Peninsula and was played on three great golf courses on the weekend of Jan 31 - February 2. This year we had nine teams of rabid and ferocious highwaymen line up to contest the greatest prize in Australian social golf. As is the tradition, the reigning champs are considered the most recent and infamous bushrangers, and so had the honour of competing as The Kelly Gang. The event details were:
When: Friday, Saturday & Sunday January 31 - February 2
Where: The Cups, Cape Schanck & Moonah Links Open
What: 45 holes of mayhem over three days
How: Staying in Deluxe Villas at the Moonah Links Golf Academy.
Who: Mates playing & laughing in teams of four
Why: For loads of fun, trophies & prizes
This year we had two more Cuppers (both past Champions) join the 10-Cups Club as Mick Van Raay and Richard Fellner saddled up for the 10th time. This means we have seven exclusive Bushrangers who have played 10 Cups or more. They are:
Boo, Crocko, Dee, Dubs, Kingo, Quigley & The Hominator.

Starting out at The Cups Course at The Dunes Golf Links, the scores were relatively even on day one with just five shots between the top five teams. Then on Saturday at Cape Schanck the event was blown away when The Aaron Sherritt Gang posted two of the top five scores for the day to open up a huge lead going into the final day.
Overall there was only 9 shots between the top 17 pairs, but with one team posting two of the best scores they opened up a big 54 hole lead. The Aaron Sherritt Gang were 12 ahead of 2nd place and behind them there was a logjam with just nine shots between the other eight teams.
In the end, the field did their best to mow down the leaders, but with a very solid closing 65 they were able to cruise home to a six shot win. In so doing they smashed the scoring records to pieces and posted the lowest ever score by a wide margin. They played some brilliant, consistent, spine-tingling and attacking golf over the three days and embraced some of the most intense Saturday evening heckling this event as ever seen to score a historic win.

Above we see the new Kelly Gang (Dave Pollock, Phil Peacock, Dave Warwick & Tom Tomlin) hamming it up after receiving the greatest prize in Australian social golf - The Bushranger Cup.
